OMG: A Digital Lettering Exploration
Project type
Lettering and sculpting
Date
April 2025
Location
Haifa Museum
What started as a commissioned project for the graphic identity of an art and design exhibition soon became an integral part of the actual show. I was commissioned by Noa Segal, a graphic designer for the Haifa Museum of Art, to create unique lettering for an upcoming exhibition titled "Desktop: A Physical Exhibition about the Digital Era." Curated by yuval Saar.
Segal believed that exploring letterform creation through a human-machine dialogue could perfectly represent the essence of the show. I was delighted to dive into an exploration that I can describe as being somewhere between coherence and disruption. Segal and I searched for the balance between abstraction - allowing space for random "mistakes" and a unique artistic language - while ensuring the letters remained readable.
To make a long story short, the museum eventually asked for the project to be featured as an exhibit in the show. We selected three letters that combine into a concept conveying astonishment, shock, and the feeling of being overwhelmed. These were 3D-printed, creating objects that began as synthetic ideas and transformed into something resembling archaeological artifacts from the future.
